Our services

Therapy

  • Ascent Psychology offers a wide range of psychotherapeutic services.

  • We see children through adults in individual or couples/partner sessions.

  • Each of our licensed therapists have diverse clinical backgrounds and offer a unique approach to care.

  • Sessions are face-to-face in our office, or virtually through our HIPAA compliant platforms - whatever your comfortable with and however best brings you the care you need.

  • We accept Aetna and Optum insurance plans (and their subplans) or you can pay by a credit card and we will work with you to get reimbursed by your out-of-network insurance company.

  • Above all, we strongly believe in the goodness-of-fit between you and your therapist. Our goal is to provide you with high quality care in a safe environment with a professional who you trust and who understands you and your goals for therapy. We are confident we can help you with those goals, but if the fit is not right, then we will work hard to refer you to a therapist in our professional network of practices who may be a better fit for you.

A note from Dr. Alison Hoyt about therapy.

Welcome! My name is Dr. Alison Hoyt.  I often say, most people do not go skipping with joy to talk about some of the hardest things they carry in life. I respect and value how hard change can be, and even talking about change with a stranger that you do not yet really know! It is my goal and joy to create a safe and supportive place to work through goals in therapy.  I view therapy as a toolbox - one in which we will work together to learn tools to help you achieve the goals you set in therapy.  Part of therapy will be learning how everyone’s mind is unique to them and understanding how your mind can be a very valuable tool. We utilize a Cognitive- Behavioral lens when approaching treatment, and also include Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy techniques. We authentically value meeting people where they are in their journey and will customize treatment based upon your individual strengths and targeted areas of change.

I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the APA accredited program at Immaculata University. I completed my doctoral internship at the APA accredited Coatesville Veterans Affair Medical Center. I hold a Masters of Science degree in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, as well as a double major/Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Gender Studies. My professional background encompasses private practice, intensive outpatient, hospital and home-based settings. My work experience also comprises psychological assessment which includes differential diagnosis, learning disabilities and giftedness, surgical-bariatric clearance assessments, and neurocognitive disorders. My doctoral dissertation examined the roles of faith and protective factors in marital therapy. I value being a lifelong learner and have enjoyed presenting at the American Psychology Association, as well as writing published articles on neuropsychological topics. I also have experience with psychological research studies including PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, personality disorders, and analyzing how families with young children cope with conflict.

I strongly believe mental health is part of our overall health, and that everyone can benefit from therapy. We do not always know the tools to use in the different situations life may bring us to and that’s why we value the art and science of the therapeutic process and find joy in creating a supportive and kind space to exercise tools for the toolbox. These are the fundamentals that we have built this practice on.

Thank you for the time spent perusing this area of your health and I wish you well on your journey!
